CollPan

CollPan is a consortium of 25 academic medical centres within the Network of University Medicine (NUM) that has set itself the goal of establishing an interdisciplinary research network and infrastructure to investigate collateral effects (CE) of the COVID-19 pandemic and for future crisis situations. CollPan focuses on 3 main objectives: (1) mapping CEs, (2) mapping the factors that influence vulnerability and resilience, and (3) mapping the measures available to mitigate CEs. The ImDS is primarily involved in work package 2b, which focuses on cancer patients and thus represents a use case for a disease in which pandemics can have immediate and delayed effects on mortality and morbidity. Among other things, this will be investigated using a mapping review on the topic "Impact of COVID-19 pandemic on cancer screening, diagnosis, treatment and mortality in Europe" and the analysis of data from the Bavarian Cancer Registry on survival in prognostically unfavourable tumour entities. Work package 4b "Core area data integration" supports other working groups by providing a mobile application for survey studies and the identification of relevant cohorts and their visualisation via linkage with existing platforms, among other things.
