HiGHmed Use Case Cardio
HiGHmed is working on novel, interoperable solutions in medical informatics with the aim of making patient medical data accessible for clinical research and education, which in turn will improve patient care. The project is building secure data integration centres and aims to create a technology platform that will enable clinicians to make data-driven and patient-centric decisions. HiGHmed is a consortium of the different university hospitals. The use case cardio is under the lead of the university hospitals of Hannover and Göttingen.
The primary goal of the HiGHmed-Use Case Cardiology (HiGHmed-UCC) project is to establish an IT environment (MeDIC) for the standardised collection of long-term data (retrospective and prospective) from patients with chronic heart failure. The aim is to identify those patients who have a high risk of having to be readmitted to hospital due to worsening heart failure (heart failure hospitalisation) and/or who have a poor prognosis (mortality).
As part of a sub-project to investigate the performance (discrimination, calibration) of the prognostic scores "Barcelona Heart Failure Score (BHF; Lupón et al., 2014) and MAGGIC Risk Calculator for Heart Failure (Pocock et al., 2013) with regard to the accuracy of the prediction of the primary endpoint (re-hospitalisation due to heart failure or death up to 36 months after admission to the study) and the components of the primary endpoint, the IKE-B is carrying out the evaluations.
