Eric Schoger
Dr. Eric Schoger is a postdoctoral researcher and MD student at the University Medical Center Göttingen (DE). His work focusses on somatic cell gene editing and epigenetic control of transcription of cardiac cells. He obtained a B.Sc. degree in Molecular Medicine and a M.Sc. degree in Cardiovascular Science at the Georg-August-University Göttingen. Before joining Dr. Laura Zelarayáns Group at the University Medical Center Göttingen to pursue his PhD in Molecular Medicine, he spent a year as a visiting scientist in Dr. Eric Olson’s Lab, UTSW, Dallas (TX, USA) to work on cardiomyocyte-specific CRISPR/Cas9 expression control. Making use of transgenic mouse and human induced pluripotent stem cell models, including engineered human myocardium, his work aims to understand the (patho-) physiology of cardiac cells in a variety of cardiac disease conditions and to pave the way for the development of novel therapeutic strategies with a particular interest in rewiring the genetic programs of cardiomyocytes.
